The wettest summer?

I was woken at 5.00am today by the sound of thunder and rain on the steel roof. Normally the sound of rain would be welcome. It certainly would have been very welcome 12 months ago at the end of the big dry with its bushfires and the constant stench of smoke. But summer 2021 has been very different. Not very hot but so wet and with very high humidity.

All talk of water restrictions and new desalination plants has ended. Now it's floods and storm warnings. I have not had to water the garden all summer. The rainwater tanks are constantly full and I cannot remember how many times I have had to let water out of the pool to prevent it overflowing.

OK, rain you've had your fun, let's call it a day.

Photo taken this morning at the end (?) of the storm. Leica X Vario.
